Caps.Indian [Committee Proposal System]

Hi freshies!

As said during the debrief yesterday, we will be having our Committee Voting Day for Caps Indian very soon during the 2 weeks break.

This year we'll be paddling from Singapore to Ramunie (Malaysia) and because it's a year 1 organise for the club event every year, we would have to get the committee up and running to plan for the expedition coming this big holiday during the first semester break.

There will be the different vacancies up for you to propose in a group and fight for the positions you want on Committee Voting Day.

You can choose from being Organiser, Assistant Organiser, Secretary cum Treasurer, Nutritionist (F&B), Creative Advisor (Publicity), Chief Expedition Leader, Logistics Manager or Overall Activity Coordinator.

Here is a writeup of what is expected that you need to present if you want to fight for this position:

Organiser (1 person)
Someone who can lead the whole committee into executing of this annual expedition. This year would be a big thing because we are travelling from Singapore to Malaysia. You would have self discipline as to know that you shouldn't be the one waiting for people to give you commands but you should make sure that things are being done on time.

Requirement: To plan out a schedule of how you would visualise the whole planning to be completed on time, from now until the expedition let's say the expedition is in August/September and also what's makes you think that everybody would listen to you.

Assistant Organiser (1 person)
To assist the organiser into completing thing. You act as a support to the organiser by sharing out his workload and making sure that everythings get done on time.

Requirement: Read requirement of organiser. something like that.

Secretary cum Treasurer (1 person)
Need to do the adminstrative stuffs like compiling contacts for the whole committee, participants and making sure that overnight list is settled. Money is being collected from every participants. You need to make sure that the money is enough to pay off for every stuffs which you people need to buy and use.

Requirement: You need to tell us what makes you a good adminstrative person. why must it be you and not someone else. Are you really that reliable and self disciplined to settle all the contacts list particulars.

Logistics Manager & Logistics Members (5-6 persons)
Everybody needs you! Because you are the Logistics Manager! Things won’t be fun without things.

Requirements: you need to draw out a draft of equipments that is needed from all departments and all possible activities (eg, games, cooking, etc), possible place to source for extra equipments (eg: canoe, paddles, etc). How are you going to carry all these stuff with you during the expedition? Plan out the layout upon beaching (eg: where to cook, where to sleep, where to play…..)

Nutritionist Head & Nutrionists (5-6 persons)
Aspiring Nutritionists can plan for the following in sequence:

Day 1
Dinner, Supper

Day 2
Breakfast, Launching Lunch, Dinner, Supper

Day 3
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Supper

Day 4
Breakfast

Plan out a nutritional & energy packed menus and estimate cost-per-person for a bulk order of 80 ~ 100 persons. Get quotations from different places.

Requirements: You should also explain on how are you going to cook the food, store the food, make sure that its halal, what to do if you lost your food during the expedition, what if your canoe mates are still asking for more food.

Chief Expedition Leader & Expedition Leaders (8 persons)
Lead the pack as a Chief Expedition Leader…

Decide on the dates for the expedition. You will be taught the stream-table all over again to fully understand the tide/ current predictions. Come up with a draft route for the expedition. You will be contacted for an appointment to use the tidetable and small crafts map once you leave your name with the interim Secretary

Requirements: able to plan the formation for everyone to follow to ensure the safety of the participants. How are you going to get the whole team to listen to you during the expedition. How are you going to solve the problems when more than 1 boat capsizes during the expedition? Are you able to get your participants to follow your instructions well and sure they follow the route you plan out?

Creative Advisor (2 persons)
Come up with a theme for CAPS INDIAN. It has to be something along the lines of club unity. With that in mind, design a singlet/ t-shirt for CAPS INDIAN and an identity for the batch. Get quotations to find out cost of printing your design on the singlets/ shirts.

Requirements: do any powerpoint, photo slideshow or video of any photographs or any other media to present the event. Must bring camera to take candid shots during canoe training. The person with the most and funniest candid shots will receive high consideration for this post too.


Overall Activity Coordinator & Activity Coordinators (6 persons)
If you have an out-going personality, spontaneous and always full of energy – Prove yourself as an Overall Activity Coordinator!

Requirements: Draw up a programme plan (games to play, stuff to do, leave time for meals and sleep!) from afternoon arrival in school till launching time. Must be able to entertain your participants throughout the whole expedition. When there is a delay in launching or whatever, how are you going to entertain them? Plan for wet weather programme.
