CAPS KILO '09

Hello lovely canoeists! As ya'll know, CAPS KILO is round the corner. Okay, not exactly.. But soon. haha :)
So here's a write-up of what is expected that you need to present if you want to fight for these positions:


Organiser (1 person)

You’re supposed to lead the whole committee to plan this annual expedition. So you must have self discipline to know that you shouldn’t be waiting for people to give you commands. Take initiative to make sure everyone and everything is on the right track (:


Requirement: plan out a schedule of how you would visualise the whole planning to be completed on time, from now until the expedition date in September, and also what makes you think that everybody would listen to you.

Assistant Organiser (1 person)
assist the organiser to get things done. You act as a support to the organiser by splitting the workload with him and making sure that everything’s done on time.

Requirement: read requirement of organiser. It’s something like that.

Secretary cum Treasurer (1 person)
administrative stuff like compiling the particulars for the whole committee, participants and make sure the overnight list is settled. Money is to be collected from every participant, and kept safely(: you’d also need to make sure that the money is enough to pay off for whatever you people need to buy and use.

Requirement: you need to tell us what makes you a good administrative person, why we should choose you and not someone else, and are you really reliable and disciplined enough to settle all the contacts list particulars on time.

Logistics Manager & Logistics Members (5-6 persons)
you’re important! because you’re the Logistics Manager! things won’t be fun if there’s nothing around.

Requirements: you need to draw out a draft of equipments that is needed from all departments and all possible activities (eg, games, cooking, etc), possible place to source for extra equipments (eg: canoe, paddles, pails etc). how are you going to carry all these stuff with you during the expedition? plan out the layout upon beaching (eg: where to store the boats, where to sleep, where to play)

Nutritionist Head & Nutrionists (5-6 persons)
aspiring nutritionists can plan for the following in sequence:

Day 1
Dinner, Supper

Day 2
Breakfast, Launching Lunch, Dinner, Supper

Day 3
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Supper

Day 4
Breakfast

plan an nutritional & energy packed menu and estimate cost-per-person for a bulk order of 80 ~ 100 persons. you should get quotations from different places.

Requirements: explain on how you’re going to cook the food, store the food, make sure its halal, make sure there’s food for the vegetarians, what to do if you lose your food during the expedition, what if your canoe mates are still asking for more food.

Chief Expedition Leader & Expedition Leaders (8 persons)
lead the rest of the club as a Chief Expedition Leader.

You’re supposed to research and predict the tide/current that may be faced during the expedition. Try to come up with a draft route for the expedition.

Requirements: come up with a formation for everyone to follow to ensure the safety of the participants. How are you going to get the whole team to listen to you during the expedition. Are you able to get your participants to follow your instructions well and ensure they follow the route you planned out? How are you going to solve the problem when more than 1 boat capsizes during the expedition?

Creative Advisor (2 persons)
come up with a theme for CAPS KILO. It should be something to do with club unity. design a singlet/ t-shirt for CAPS KILO and an identity for the batch. gather quotations to find out the cost of printing your design on the singlets/ shirts.

Requirements: do any PowerPoint, photo slideshow or video of any photographs or any other media to present the event, or take candid shots during canoe training. the one with the most and funniest candid shots will receive high consideration for this post too.

Overall Activity Coordinator & Activity Coordinators (6 persons)
if you have an out-going personality, am spontaneous and always full of energy – this may be what you’re looking for!

Requirements: draw up a programmed plan (games to play, stuff to do, leave time for meals and sleep!) from afternoon arrival in school till launching time. must be able to entertain your participants throughout the whole expedition. when there is a delay in launching or whatever, how are you going to entertain them? plan for wet weather programmed.


OK! SO think this thru thoroughly and start up with your proposal. We will get everyone to stay back after school one day (not confirmed when yet, but WE WILL LET YA'LL KNOW VERY VERY SOON!) to have you guys & gals to propose to us your ideas. Come on, BE DARING and take up the challenge of making CAPS a fun thing FOR THE JUNIORS, BY THE JUNIORS!!!
