Well here at NACC, we have two different types of Canoeing, Canoe Polo and Canoe Sprint.
As its name suggests, Canoe sprinting is the racing of canoe boats on flatwater. However, canoeing isn't a test of your strength, but rather a sport requiring skill and precise technique. For a start, balancing on a boat would be a challenge before you even start thinking of paddling! We have different types of boats, ranging from the competitive K-boats to the C-boats.
K-boats are the Kayak boats. These boats are specially designed to go fast on flat water in a straight line.
C-boats are Canoe boats where the person has to kneel on the boat while paddling on one side as seen in the picture.
Other than sprints, we also take part in Canoe marathons like the Round Ubin Marathon and the Singapore Canoe Marathon.

Canoe Polo is a spectacular team game, which combines elements of water polo, basketball and canoeing! The game is played by two teams of five players each, trying to score goals with a waterpolo ball in a net suspended above the water at each end of a "playing pitch", which is often a swimming pool. The fast, exciting game is played in two halves of ten minutes each, and produces fast, robust action, where a wide range of skills, including the Eskimo roll, are regularly used.
The paddlers use short, manoeuvrable polo-boat kayaks, paddled with two-bladed paddles and wear helmets, facemasks and lifejackets for safety and protection.

For our canoe polo teams, they are seperated into the mens and the women's team. For the women's team, our trainings are on Tuesdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 1pm. For the men's team, our trainings are on Saturdays and Sundays at 9am.
